EDMONTON, AB – Northlands and the City of Edmonton proudly produced River City Round Up from November 2-11, 2012. This 10 day festival celebrating the region’s agriculture and western heritage came alive through the 39th edition of both Farmfair International and the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR). Starting with the Chili Cook Off in Sir Winston Churchill Square on November 2, leading into Farmfair International at Northlands and ending with CFR Championship Sunday on November 11 – this was certainly a festival to remember.

“River City Round Up is an opportunity for the community to come together and take part in festivities both at Northlands and throughout the City of Edmonton,” said Richard L. Andersen, President and CEO of Northlands.  “We strive to create memories that will last a lifetime.”

The two-day kick off celebrations for River City Round Up  started in Sir Winston Churchill Square where the highlight was a free concert by Canadian country music artist George Canyon on Saturday, November 3. On Sunday, November 4, one of Canada’s premiere Agriculture shows, Farmfair International, brought international buyers and sellers together to conduct business and share learnings. A total of 91,293 guests came through the Edmonton EXPO Centre to see cattle shows, the Heritage Ranch Rodeo, RAM Country Marketplace and more.

River City Round Up wrapped up with the Canadian Finals Rodeo where the best athletes, stock and pick up men in rodeo competed for national titles, bragging rights and more than $1.4 million in prize money. This year, 90,665 guests came to see six adrenaline packed performances over five days at Rexall Place. Next year marks the 40th anniversary of both Canadian Finals Rodeo and Farmfair International.
