  The 2013 edition of Farmfair International marks the 40th year Northlands has been hosting one of Canada’s top agricultural shows.  While ensuring we maintain the programs that keep our visitors coming back to the Edmonton EXPO Centre to show and sell top quality livestock, there will be enhanced programming to mark this anniversary year. One of the key highlights of this year’s event is that the 2013 edition of Farmfair International will host eight national shows: Red Angus, Black Angus, Charolais, Gelbvieh, Lowline, Limousin, Shorthorn and Simmental. With these breeds being strongly represented at show, it is an ideal year for cattle producers locally and across the globe to visit Farmfair International. To further our promotion on the global scale, Northlands continues to seek the opportunity to attract qualified buyers to Farmfair International’s Inbound Buyer Program. From March 20-25, two Northlands representatives and four Farmfair International exhibitors travelled to the Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers Association Conference in Forth Worth, Texas. River City Round Up was a Wild Ride!

EDMONTON, AB – Northlands and the City of Edmonton proudly produced River City Round Up from November 2-11, 2012. This 10 day festival celebrating the region’s agriculture and western heritage came alive through the 39th edition of both Farmfair International and the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR). Starting with the Chili Cook Off in Sir Winston Churchill Square on November 2, leading into Farmfair International at Northlands and ending with CFR Championship Sunday on November 11 – this was certainly a festival to remember. “River City Round Up is an opportunity for the community to come together and take part in festivities both at Northlands and throughout the City of Edmonton,” said Richard L.   The Harper Government is helping to bring more international buyers to Farmfair International this year, enabling Canadian farmers to export more of their high-quality agri-food products and livestock genetics worldwide. The Honourable Rob Merrifield, Member of Parliament (Yellowhead), announced today an investment for Northlands to promote Farmfair International. “The Harper Government is a strong advocate for our livestock genetics industry and we are proud to promote it in markets around the globe,” said MP Merrifield. "Through this investment, our Government is giving farmers the tools they need to take advantage of new and exciting international markets and, in turn, strengthen our economy."This investment of $50,000 will enable Northlands to increase international awareness of the event and attract new foreign buyers by promoting Canada's high-quality cattle genetics and agricultural products in key international markets. Canadian farmers will benefit from the International Agbusiness Centre at Farmfair, which serves as a top business destination for the livestock genetics industry, providing trade information and business services to facilitate international business at the fair. Premiere livestock shows stronger together

  EDMONTON, AB –Farmfair International (FFI) and Canadian Western Agribition, the two premiere livestock shows in Western Canada, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on international marketing and promotional activities to attract international buyers to both shows in 2013. Today, Richard L. Andersen, CFE, President and Chief Executive Officer of Northlands and Marty Seymour, Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Western Agribition were at Northlands to sign the Memorandum of Understanding. “We believe this is a great opportunity for our shows to work together and it sets the stage for future opportunities,” said Richard L. Farmfair and CFR entertained thousands of guests EDMONTON, AB –City slickers turned cowboy to celebrate River City Round Up – a city-wide festival celebrating Edmonton’s agriculture and western heritage from November 4-13. Northlands’ Farmfair and the Canadian Finals Rodeo helped Edmontonians find the west within with cattle shows, horse sales, and some of the best rodeo contestants in the country. “Northlands was built from agriculture roots and we’re proud to continue this tradition,” said Richard L. Andersen, President and CEO of Northlands. “The sport of rodeo and our western heritage are engrained in the roots of our community and we’re proud to support Alberta’s dynamic culture.” Northlands and the City of Edmonton were proud to partner to start off the ten-day festival with the River City Round Up kick off celebration in Sir Winston Churchill Square on November 5. There was entertainment, a caravan of covered wagons, cultural displays, family activities and the evening concluded with a fantastic fireworks display.
